There are a variety of ways for the UT community, alumni, volunteers, or the general public to get involved and learn. Not just within the department but in our Biodiversity Center, our Texas Field Stations Network, and the wider UT Austin community.
Outreach events…
- Attend our monthly, free public outreach lecture Science under the Stars, organized by Integrative Biology graduate students. These occur during the fall and spring semesters and are held at the Brackenridge Field Lab in central Austin. These are great opportunities for people of all ages to learn about current research being done in the department, as well as to explore and learn about the Brackenridge Field Lab.
Volunteer…
- Volunteer in any one of our Collections. These include the Ichthyology Collection, the Entomology Collection, the Herpetology Collection, and the Plants Collection. To learn about these opportunities and find contact information, visit this website.

- Visit the Texas Science & Natural History Museum, the only museum in the greater Austin area focused on science and natural history, it offers a comprehensive look at the natural wonders of Texas and provides an engaging and educational experience for all.
