Biography
Timothy Keitt is a professor in the Department of Integrative Biology at The University of Texas at Austin and an affiliated faculty member of the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences. He earned a bachelor's degree in zoology from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of New Mexico. Following graduate school, he held postdoctoral fellowships at the Santa Fe Institute and the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis. Since joining the UT Austin faculty in 2002, Keitt has built a career at the intersection of ecology, computation and data science, teaching courses in ecological theory and field ornithology while advancing interdisciplinary approaches to understanding environmental systems.
Research
Timothy Keitt works on a range of problems involving computational methods applied to ecosystems across scales, from local to global. His work integrates ecology, modeling, statistics and computation to better understand the dynamics and organization of environmental systems.
