PRE-AWARD: general proposal information for PIs
Q: How do I submit a grant proposal in Integrative Biology?
Contact Sean Schaffer, with information on your grant submission:
- Sponsor name
- Submission deadline
- Proposal Specifications doc/link
Sean is the OSP liaison for Integrative Biology. Sean will coordinate the OSP approval and submission for all grants that will be awarded to UT (not to the person directly).
Sean can help with:
- Creating a Proposal Review Form (PRF) which notifies OSP of the incoming proposal
- Help create/review the proposal budget and budget justification
- Create the proposal application in the sponsor’s required tool
- Review proposal documents with the proposal specification requirements and other sponsor guidelines
- Upload completed documents to the application
- Work with OSP to get the proposal approved and submitted
- Communicate with the PI any questions or issues that arise
Q: What is the schedule for submitting a proposal through OSP?
It is preferable to contact Sean Schaffer, at least 2 weeks before the proposal submission deadline. Sean will review the proposal guidelines and work with the PI and OSP to get the proposal approved by OSP and submitted by the deadline.
OSP requests a minimum of 4 business days before the submission deadline to review and approve a proposal. For their review, OSP requires these documents:
- Budget
- Budget justification
- Statement of work or project summary (draft is fine for their review)
Q: What is the cost of a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) salary and tuition?
GRA rates are typically set by the graduate programs. Contact the gradaute students graduate program coordinator to get the most current rates for of salary and tuition.
Q: What are the current UT fringe rates?
Fringe benefits are a direct cost to a sponsored project (§200.431). They are budgeted as a percentage of the salaries and wages and shown as a separate entry in the budget. Fringe is charged on all payroll transactions processed in Workday (See a detailed list here).
